The second roundtable about the concept of “megaregions” was held in New York recently, and the Institute’s David Crossley was a participant. He’ll present the findings of the event and parts of presentations that were given there.

The meeting is Wednesday, April 26, noon-1:30 pm, Houston-Galveston Area Council, 3555 Timmons, second floor. Bring your lunch.

Exploring Growth Alternatives: A Series of Community Forums

Envision Houston Region will hold four forums in the month of May to solicit citizen input into their effort to create a regional “vision” to address and successfully manage the future growth of our area. This vision will be used to inform the creation of the 2035 Regional Transportation Plan. The forums will include experts from throughout the Houston region to give insight into prevailing trends in Houston’s growth and possible strategies for our future. Envision Houston Region.org

Topic is “Global Warming: An Inconvenient Truth”

Former Vice President Al Gore will speak about global warming at a June 7 Progressive Forum event coinciding with the release of his new book and a documentary, all named “Global Warming: An Inconvenient Truth.” His talk will focus on his vision for an economically viable solution.
